Gift Terms

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Hib ("هِب") is a digital gifting platform operated by Hib One Portal, licensed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Trade License No. 1642822, activity: Portal). These Gift Terms apply to every gift purchased through the Hib app or hibgift.ae. When you buy a gift, you buy it from Hib as the seller; the participating merchant supplies the goods or services when the gift is redeemed. By paying for a gift, you accept these terms — we record your acceptance, together with this version number, with your order.

2. What a Hib gift is

• Cash gift — a value (for example AED 500) the recipient spends on anything in store at the chosen merchant.
• Merchant gift — a specific item or experience from a merchant's catalogue.

A Hib gift is not cash, not a bank deposit, and not electronic money. It cannot be exchanged for cash, resold, or used outside the merchant it was issued for. Each gift is valid at all branches of that merchant in the UAE.

3. Buying and sending

Payment is processed securely by Stripe; Hib never sees or stores your card number. A 5% service fee is added to your order and shown clearly in the checkout total before you pay — it covers the cost of operating the platform and is part of the purchase price. The gift is delivered to the recipient by SMS link (and push notification where available). You are responsible for entering the recipient's correct name and mobile number — a gift sent to a wrong number you provided is treated as delivered. If a payment fails, no gift is issued and you can simply retry the same order.

4. Validity and expiry

• Every gift is valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.
• We remind both the recipient and the sender before the expiry date, by push notification.
• After expiry, the gift closes. Expired gifts are not refunded, exchanged, or credited — this is stated at checkout and accepted before payment.

5. No refunds — but you can re-gift

Gifts are not refundable for change of mind. Instead, if your plans change, you can reassign the gift to a different recipient — free, once — as long as it hasn't been redeemed and hasn't expired. The original recipient's link stops working and the new recipient receives their own link. To reassign, use the option in the app or contact us at hello@hibgift.ae.

6. If the recipient doesn't want the gift

There's nothing to return and nothing to cancel. The recipient can redeem it for anything they'd enjoy at the merchant, keep it for later within the 6-month validity, or let you know so you can reassign it to someone else (see section 5). Unredeemed gifts expire under section 4.

7. Redemption rules

• A cash gift is redeemed once, in a single visit. The recipient may choose multiple items in that visit.
• If the bill is more than the gift value, the recipient pays the difference directly to the merchant.
• Any unused balance below the bill is not carried over, credited, or refunded.
• Redemption is confirmed by the merchant in store and cannot be undone.
• Merchants may refuse a gift that shows signs of tampering or misuse.

8. If a merchant closes

If a merchant stops trading or leaves Hib, the merchant is marked as closed and its gifts can no longer be redeemed there. If you hold a gift for a closed merchant, contact us at hello@hibgift.ae and we'll move your gift to a comparable merchant of equal value, free of charge. Gifts affected by a merchant closure are swapped, not refunded.

9. Payment errors

Duplicate charges and technical billing errors are always refunded in full to the original payment method, automatically once detected. If you spot a charge you don't recognise, contact us at hello@hibgift.ae and we'll resolve it.

10. Fair-use limits and fraud prevention

To keep gifting safe: standard denominations run from AED 100 to 1,000, and custom amounts start at AED 50 with no upper limit. Any purchase of AED 5,000 or more is flagged to our team and reviewed manually before the gift is issued. We may decline or cancel any order that appears fraudulent or misused; cancelled orders are refunded in full to the original payment method.

11. Liability

The merchant is solely responsible for the quality, safety, and delivery of the goods and services you redeem. Hib's total liability in connection with any gift is limited to the purchase value of that gift. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable UAE law.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. The courts of Dubai, UAE have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

13. Changes to these terms

If we update these terms, we'll post the new version here with a new version number. The version that applies to a gift is the one accepted at checkout for that order. Questions about anything in this document: hello@hibgift.ae.
